Wildlife Management
For
W. M. Beaty & Associates, Inc. (WBA), managing
and conserving wildlife and their habitats is a crucial
component of sustainable forestry. We carefully consider
potential impacts to these resources during all phases of
forest planning, harvesting, and timber sale administration. W. M. Beaty & Associates,
Inc. offers an array of wildlife related services, from
site-specific habitat evaluations to developing comprehensive
management plans. Wildlife and biological assessments are
required by the California Forest Practice Rules for individual Timber Harvesting Plans (THPs)
and also more complex,
long term planning documents such as Nonindustrial Timber
Management Plans (NTMPs) or Sustained Yield Plans (SYPs).
Additionally, the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
and other regulations also require
that adverse impacts to wildlife resources and habitats that may
potentially result from timber harvesting be
avoided, minimized, or mitigated. The
Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC) certification process likewise places
heavy emphasis on biological resources and wildlife habitats.
W. M. Beaty & Associates, Inc. completes field surveys for
various plants and animals (including fish) during plan
development and implementation. Inventories of various species or habitats are
often completed by compiling data from several sources in
addition to field investigations. Habitat assessments may be
verified through site-specific monitoring when necessary. We
work closely with State and Federal regulatory agencies to
effectively resolve issues related to rare, threatened, and
endangered species.
W. M. Beaty & Associates, Inc. is able to assist owners of small
parcels or large holdings with all of their wildlife management needs.
